Office of Professional Research and Development

The Office of Professional Research and Development provides research, evaluation, and development services to clients within and outside of Syracuse University. OPRD is made up of staff within the Syracuse University School of Education and outside consultants, that bring specialties to meet the needs of a broad range of clients. Our mission is to increase the capacity of educators to produce high quality work.

Services

  • Program Evaluation – design, development, and implementation of evaluation studies of new and existing education-related programs. We produce high quality reports for funders and on-going reports for leadership planners.
  • Grant Proposal Development – direct assistance in major aspects of the writing of government or foundation grant proposals seeking funding for new programs, research, or training. We also offer evaluation services to support funded programs.
  • Research/Development Services – targeted academic and professional literature searches, assistance in moving pilot programs through scale-up, and edits to documents for submission to funders or professional organizations.

Clients

The Office of Professional Research and Development works with:

  • Programs and departments in almost every school and college across Syracuse University
  • Other colleges and universities in New York State (Cornell University, Clarkson University, TIR, RPI, Onondaga Community College, Hamilton College)
  • K-12 school districts, including the Syracuse City School District
  • Family and child services agencies such as the Early Childhood Alliance and the Health Foundation for Western and Central New York.
  • Economic development projects with CenterState/CEO, Manufacturers’ Association of Central New York, and Corning International.
